Lolo Middle School Data Collection
For the past 4 years, the Lolo Watershed Group and the Watershed Education Network have teamed up to teach students about sedimentation in the Lolo Watershed. Students participate in two in-class lessons and one field outing to Travelers Rest State Park. Instructors lead stations which focus on the biological, chemical, and physical characteristics of Lolo Creek. At the conclusion of the study unit, the students give oral presentations of their findings to the Lolo community.
These events are made possible by an annual Soil and Water Conservation Districts of Montana (SWCDM) environmental education grant. The Lolo Watershed Group reapplies each year to continue providing this hands-on learning opportunity for local middle school students.
