Snow in Lolo Pass

The snow has been accumulating up at Lolo Pass this winter. According to SNOTEL, the average precipitation accumulation for Lolo Pass is slightly above average this water year. However, The snow water equivalent is slightly below average. This is most likely due to the fact that the temperatures have been cool, leading to dry snow in the pass. This light and fluffy snow increases the accumulation rate, but when it is packed down, it is actually less water than it looks. These conditions are great for skiing, but we could still use more?accumulation in order to keep a healthy and happy Lolo creek!
